Hello James -

CA>> If you are trying to burn that ISO image of KNOPPIX
CA>> everyone was discussing recently (the torrent etc.) then
CA>> you probably have an older CD burner than cannot do an
CA>> 'overburn'. Another thing people don't tell you. The
CA>> KNOPPIX ISO image is around 700meg or so and standard
CA>> (old) burners only do 650meg. Newer burners (some) will do
CA>> an 'overburn' out to 700meg.

JB> ...No, I'm trying to burn a backup from another machine.

Oh, OK.

JB> In a nut, vas is das, 'Torrent?' I heard a bit about the
JB> conversations, but it wasn't making the most impact on my
JB> thick skull. The best I got, is it will 'finger' out to
JB> another I-net connection like those music sharing
JB> communities.

Yes, a torrent download grabs pieces of a file from many
sources simultaneously and eventually reassembles them on your
machine.

JB> I'm not sure how old the burner is, but how could one tell
JB> if it is *too* old? PS: I just checked my image, and it is
JB> 683M. Maybe I just found out my drive is too old?

On my machine using NERO it shows at the bottom of the screen
on a scale what the maximum is for your burner. I would guess
you have an older burner limited to 650meg.

The good news is new CDRW burners are selling for $30 (no need
to mail in rebates either). Mine is 52x35x52 and can burn a
full CD in about 4 minutes. :-)

JB> Thanks, Charles! James

You're welcome.
