| subject: | CDW won`t close. |
03-24-05 20:01, Charles Angelich told James Bradley about CDW won't close. Well, how do, Charles? CA> 123c54739aa9 CA> tech CA> If you are trying to burn that ISO image of KNOPPIX everyone CA> was discussing recently (the torrent etc.) then you probably CA> have an older CD burner than cannot do an 'overburn'. Another CA> thing people don't tell you. The KNOPPIX ISO image is around CA> 700meg or so and standard (old) burners only do 650meg. Newer CA> burners (some) will do an 'overburn' out to 700meg. ...No, I'm trying to burn a backup from another machine. In a nut, vas is das, 'Torrent?' I heard a bit about the conversations, but it wasn't making the most impact on my thick skull. The best I got, is it will 'finger' out to another I-net connection like those music sharing communities. I'm not sure how old the burner is, but how could one tell if it is *too* old? PS: I just checked my image, and it is 683M. Maybe I just found out my drive is too old? I was forced to reboot last night, (W'98 don't you know!) and the CD is blank. It obviously didn't close the CD, *nor* the session. Shoot, I'd like to swear. I suppose the only thing left, is for me to create another image smaller in size? I went to contribute more to the CD, where Adaptec offered to close the burn, but that seemed to do nothing. JB> After burning a CD, it seems to be stuck while trying to JB> close the session. Bumping it on the hood seemed to do JB> nothing, so now JB> I'm stuck. It's been this way for more than 24 hours JB> I'm stuck. now, and JB> even *I* know that's not normal. JB> W'98 Creative Labs (Don't know model.) Adaptec Easy CD JB> Creator v4.? JB> Because the data came over the network, I first created an JB> image on a local drive, then started the burn from that. JB> The dialog displays 100% completed, and the indicator says JB> it is "Closing CD". All buttons are greyed out, so I can't JB> Cancel, or OK it. JB> Is there some way to wake this up, or should I re-boot? It JB> seems to be a stuck application, as I am not given the JB> chance to close the window. I could likely three-finger it, JB> and stop it that way. What to do? JB> "Bother" Said Poo. ...Or was it Poe? ... Thanks, Charles!
