RG> The Marinoni I believe come with campy. Marinoni being Italien swear
RG> by it. I think it depends who you speak to as to which company is
RG> better. The campy I have has problems and it is the ergo Chorus group
RG> late '94 edition. Dual pivot brakes. I would recommend getting dual
RG> pivot since they are much stronger brakes, faster stopping time.
They can be orderd with Campy or Shimano, Both local shops that
deal with Marinoni just order custom frames with fork. They
equipt them at the shop with buyers choice on all parts. I picked
Veloce because three out of three shops said the price diferance
between Veloce and Athena were bigger than quality diference.
The two things that I have been told could use upgrading from
Veloce would be hubs and brakes. however even the Veloce Hubs
and brakes are better than the nearly historic ones I am using
now. I have never had dual pivot brakes and although I know
they would be better, I have no trouble skidding a wheel now.
The one bike shop should be calling me back with a price by
December 4th, depending on how steep it is I may upgrade a few
things. My wife is Italian, I told my mother in-law that my
next bike was going to be more Italian then she is (save the
American Classic seat post).
Next thing to figure out is the paint colors, I'm thinking of
bright red fadding into bright yellow. That should be easy
for traffic to see.
