Every HD requires a valid MBR to boot, regardless of controller type. My
Promise controller works just fine with DaniS506.ADD. A promise IDE
controller is considered by both the system BIOS and the OS to be a SCSI
device. If indeed the mobo controller is bad, you'll need to set the
BIOS to NONE for devices connected to it. If your BIOS is Award, do NOT
set it to boot from SCSI unless you do indeed want to boot from "SCSI",
AND you also have motherboard IDE enabled and set to something other
than NONE in the BIOS.
