I don't think there's any need to do that.  I've only started reading the
manual after about (1 year?) of use.  Ok, so do tabs actually work the way
you want them to work?  They don't actually insert 4 spaces, they insert
enough spaces to put you on a 4-space-multiple+1, e.g. if you're on
position 2, if you press tab it will take you to position 5, press it again
and you go to 9.  Is that what you want?  BFN.
