AU> I don't know if I should give any of the government pinhead's and
AU> idea, but as far as I know it is illegal to listen to cordless phone
AU> freq's and conversations but if they wanted to do some thing about it
AU> they would have made it illegal to have the freq's programed into a
AU> scanner. You see they want pacify those who wanted the scanner
AU> enthusiast stopped but not enough to put teeth in the law. So the
AU> passed some more feel good legislation that made bad law.
RW> No, way it is not by any means illegal to listen to cordless phone
RW> conversations,
Thats still debated hotly here in the states. Some think if it's not a
state law it's not illegal, others say it falls under federal law.
Me, I don't know. Lets put it this way, all I have to do on my pro 2042
is push Auto 5, hold down Enter and push clear and I'm in compliance with
the
law!
RW> and as a matter of fact is not even against the law
RW> (In Australia) to monitor Police\Ambulance\Fire Communications via
RW> any Type of Radio transmission. However I am not certian about other
RW> countries.
In some state's its not illegal to have a scanner, but is to use it in the
commission of a crime, say while robbing a bank you monitor freq's used by
the police to see if an alarm has been dropped. That is a crime in my
opinion!
Funny though, Austrailia has certainly tightend up it gun laws in a knee
jerk
way, but not it's communication laws. Unlucky in one way, lucky in another!
RW> ... Why trust in technology, when you can have TREKnology?
