JS>JK> Cerain chemicals, such as alcohol, illegal drugs, and prescription
JS>JK> pharmaceuticals, also can increase or decrease the supply of
JS>JK> neurochemicals. In fact, the underlying usefulness of trycyclic
JS>JK> antidepressant medications, such as Elavil, is that they normalizw the
JS>JK> supply of neurochemicals.
JS>Fine: dietary deficiencies can disrupt neural metabolism. So can various
JS>drugs and medications. This is both common sense and old news. That
doesn'
JS>prove that the mechanism is the same. It also doesn't prove that stuffing
a
JS>person full of amino acids will cause them to discard an addiction.
WE DO NOT MAINTAIN A CRAVING FOR ALCOHOL OR OTHER DRUGS FOREVER!!!!!!
That was addressed in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous some 50+
years ago! Dunno where you have been since, but countless of other
folks have recovered from alcoholism and drug abuse to the point where
they do not crave drugs daily.
WE ALSO DO NOT TAKE AWAY THE NEED FOR DAILY DOSES OF INSULIN BY GIVING
INSULIN!!! Dunno where you have been on that one either. The treatment
for diabetes is insulin and remedial diet. Insulin, incidently, has
been found to be a NEUROTRANSMITTER. So is adrenalin.
And the lack of it most certainly screws up the system to the point
where both physical and mental symptoms are present.
SPECIFIC AMINO ACIDS ARE PRESURSORS FOR SPECIFIC NEUROTRANSMITTERS.
This information is so old now that is has long since grown moss. It
has been in use ever since Rosencrans did his thing back in Presbyterian
Hospital in New York and reported it in a world wide conference in
Vienna in 1983. He even wrote a paper on it. I have that paper. He
used imipramine to take away the craving for cocaine in withdrawal, and
then fed his patients specific amino acids.
Then Blum came along with his pals in Texas and did further research on
the amino acids in double blind studies. The results were published in
a paper entitled "Enkephalinase Inhibition and Precursor Amino Acid
Loading Improves Patient Treatment of Alcohol and Polydrug Abusers:
Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Study of the Nutritional Adjunct SAAVE"
in the journal ALCOHOL Vol 5. pp 481-493, 1909. Six or more years ago.
Six years in which addicts have had the benefit of amino acids to help
them heal a very badly damaged immune system in recovery.
Don't knock what you haven't the faintest idea about. And do get that
paper and also "Improvement of Cocaine-Induced Neuromodulator Deficits
by the Neuronutrient Tropamine" by Trachtenberg and Blum as published in
the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs, Vol. 20(3), Jul-Sep 1988.
With folks such as yourself around, folks might not get around to
realizing that the same methods used to help those who have used drugs
to offset their brain chemistry might work on their children BEFORE THE
DRUGS ARE USED in the next 20 or 30 years. It will take that long for
folks like me to pound away at the new information so that other people
can see it and decide for themselves who is right.
In that length of time, many brains can be damaged, many children's
physical and emotional development negatively impacted by the refusal of
folks to go learn what anyone who deals with people should go learn.....
what addiction is really all about, and how the brain really works.
And also what the disease concept of mental illness is all about.
Because we know today that this responds to diet also.
