AU> they would have made it illegal to have the freq's programed into a
AU> scanner. You see they want pacify those who wanted the scanner
AU> enthusiast stopped but not enough to put teeth in the law. So they
AU> passed some more feel good legislation that made bad law.
FI> Funny thing is though that although it is illegal, those things
FI> *because* they are cordless can quite often get stray signals from
FI> other cordless phones in the same street :) Sometimes you can
FI> understand whats been said, sometimes you can't..but because while
FI> you're on the call to someone else that you can actually get the stray
FI> frequency, I wonder if it's illegal to stop the conversation you're
FI> having just so you can try and make out the stray signal :)
FI>
FI> Food for thought, anyway :)
Or just pick up the handset turn it on till you get a dial tone and then
unplug the phone line from the base and the handset stays open on what
ever freq it was set on at the unplugging.
I bet living in a large apt. complex could be a nightmare for overlapping
signals.
It also occured to me with all the hoopla about The cell phone conversation
of Newt Gingrich, the media is also guilty of revealing the contents of that
conversation. Who do ya think they will prosecute the politician, the media,
or the couple with the scanner? Sorry my dear cell phone scanning enthusiast
couple, you are going down alone! The bast!@#$ that passed the law will never
be accountable for violating it, and the media wasted no time to point out
that is illegal just so the could cleanse their hands!
... FREEZE!! Put down the scanner and back away slowly!
