I originally registered FidoPCB but only the 256-area version (for
some reason) and while it still works today, I carry more than 256
echos.  I've heard of Intermail but never used it.

Did you ever use uuPCB (Ed Hopper's software) to gate Usenet  PCB?
I was a co-sysop of a BBS called The Lunatic Fringe in Texas that used
it.  Worked well for what it did although that BBS node was always
processing news.. :-)
