I posed a question about such a water tube steam engine in my wood
heater. Granted that such a device is grossly inefficient. But,
since I need the fire for heat anyway- then any heat not used in
the production of power just heats the house.
Nor do I see a need for a ten horse steam [the smallest I've seen]
for such continuous duty, which would mostly be used to generate
extra electric power for the solar battery bank.
For that kind of service, a ¬HP engine would probly net 250 watts,
or 8 kw hrs /day... more than I'd use hooked to the electric grid.
Some have suggested wind power. The micro-climate in the hollow I
have has some fine summer payoff, [see next post] and the forest
canopy is now up to 45-50 foot. Getting above that for a turbine
is a very expensive proposition. MOreover, anything above the
canopy seems to suck lightning outta the sky dangerously often.
... I lost my tagline because I've become clueless and lost it?
