 A classicd example was the Ford Pinto Gas Tank fires when read ended.
 They made a calcualted decision that it was cheaper to pay an insurance
 cliam them recall all the cars.
Ironicly the AMC Gremilin had FAR FAR more incidents of fires in rear
end collisions. BUT they didn't have the DEEP POCKETS of FORD so were
let off the hook.
Incidently the VW bug was prone to fires after a "Front End" collision.
It also had a very high incidence of Engine compartment fires.
Particualrly o nthe Fuel Injection models but the carberator models stil
lhad far more then theri share.
