Not only nothing was changed structurally in the Fixpak 10 timeframe,
but there was never an intent to get rid of 16-bit code portions in the
i386 branch (put aside OS/2 for PowerPC). Worsened by the fact it is
assembly-language code, something that is not readily upgradeable to
another architecture.

Also, the B*S subsystems inside DOSCALL1 are totally 16-bitish and
archaic.
