... and then what do I find on Boxing Day, rummaging as I was
under the kitchen sink, but a spare cutlery drawer from an old
sink-top plates drainer. The cutlery drawer has four
compartments, two each side of a bridging handle. (I was going
to write handel, but that's messier) You're supposed to hook the
drawer over the end of the dish drainer, and stand cutlery
upright within to drain.
But we know better ....
Fill each of the four compartments with polystyrene foam chips
(that you made from meat plates in the blender), water well to
tamp down the chips, then insert a geranium cutting in each
compartment.
The drawer sits over the ridge between the sinks to drain, and
can then be placed under the fluorescent light in the corner of
the counter top, to provide greenery and growth while cooking
proceeds ....
