I don't have first hand experience yet because my current system has an EISA
bus and not a PCI bus, currently I don't have a system with a PCI bus at all.
We have purchased two of them (one for me, one for another guy who rely on me
for system maintenance). That guy's new system will be the first up and
running (within a month from now), later I'll complete my own system (not
soon).

You mean the ECC RAM? We didn't purchased the ECC RAM, because we will use
standard RAM (EDO RAM). ECC is for error correction.

cheaper? no.
better? IMO: yes (I don't have first hand experience yet - see above).
The DPT has far more capabilities than an Adaptec one (too many to type them
over).
Adaptec has no cache option for their SCSI hostadapters.
Bug me again over a month, by that time I'll have at least some first hand
experience (probably not on my own system yet).
