Hi Terry,
On 16 December 1995 you were blabbering to Michael Bennett
> As to the ST actually being the "next link" in the Atari chain,
Being an ST user myself, being the next link I think not, the
8 bit was and is in a class of it's own. Where can you find a
computer you can sit at each night typing out programs from
magazine and books, learning as you do so about a language..
The ST is a great computer, but you can't find many programs to
type out and learn the language on it like the 8 bit can you.
I don't think they do them anymore, there use to be stos but
that was it...
TR> Having owned almost every Atari product from the 2600 thru the STe I
TR> can tell ya your 100% correct. The 8bit is in a class by its self.
You tell them..I have four 8 bit computers and they are more important
to me than the 16 bits, what with contacts and clubs. The 16 bitters
are usually only interested in your lists of games for swaps....
Clubs and zines where are they, 8 bitters there are several still
going after years. Take the Texas TI club 12 years or more and they
are still expanding there computer with hard drives CD rom drives
memory etc and a BBS to boot. also a magazine....
16 bit no where to be seen ........
TR> with you though I think the 8bit was the beginning and the end of its
TR> own chain.
I hope this not true and we keep going for many years to come, it's
up to us to keep it going....contact that's whats needed and here is
where we can do it on the BBS'S and Nets.
