Hello Tom -

--8<--cut

TW> Automobile Mechanics are Nortoriously BAD. And most are out
TW> and out Crooks.

This particular mechanic tried to bill me a second time for
_labor_ to replace those wheel cylinders. I drove down to his
garage and explained to him that I had no intentions of paying
him twice for the same work after his mistake could've cost me
and others our lives. He agreed with not much of an argument.

TW> And the cost of repair is NO indication at all of getting a
TW> good job.

At dealerships brake jobs are how they train apprentice
mechanics. Not smart but it's a job older men don't like (too
much squatting).

TW> That is why for over 40 years I maintained my own Cars.
TW> Except for the Automatic Transmission I did Everything. For
TW> soem years now I have not been capable of doing that any
TW> longer. Two reasons, Forst my malidies of Age prevents me
TW> form doing so but also the Complexity of the car has
TW> increased 100 fold since my High point in Automobile Repair
TW> Knowledge. Kinda like Computers. The Technology has past me
TW> by. I have been through several mechenics in recent years
TW> and have yet to find one I really Trust. Meanwhile my CAr
TW> Repair cost column in my budget has increased dramaticly.
TW> In the past three years I have paid more to maintain my
TW> Cars then in the Previously 20 years.

Likewise here for me. I lost the use of my left arm for awhile
and limited use of my right arm after taking a bad fall on a
bicycle (of all things). After physical therapy I regained the
use of the left arm but the damage to my shoulders remains with
some pain on a daily basis. I can no longer break loose rusted
bolts without severe pain that lasts for days. I've had one bad
knee for over 35 years now that has made sqatting to work on
cars difficult for me. Add to that my failing eyesight and you
have a guy who just can't do it anymore.

Sad that I know how to fix what I can see while my sons can see
it and have no idea how to fix it.

Old age s*cks!
