Hi Don,
Following paste as copied from the HELP :
Using Functions
A function is a frequently performed
calculation that is built into the spreadsheet.
Functions are shortcuts for complicated
formulas.
IBM Works has 8 categories of functions for a
total of 54 individual functions that allow a
range of calculating options.
All of the functions have the same syntax: the
function consists of the function name followed
by a set of parentheses; within the parentheses
are one or more arguments separated by
commas.
An argument is a value that the function
operates on. It can be a character or numeric
value, a cell or cell range, or an expression.
_*_Entering_functions_
*_ 1. Select the cell to contain the function and
enter "=" to begin a formula.
2. Type in the function and insert cell
references by typing or by clicking the appropriate
cells.
OR
1. Select "Paste Function" from the Edit menu.
2. Select from the function category buttons.
The associated functions will be displayed.
3. Select the function.
4. Select Paste. The function will appear in the
cell edit box at the insertion point. Insert cell
references by typing or by clicking the appropriate
cells.
