Hi Will,
While transfer of UU or script files is not universally
prohibited by FIDO rules, most of the FIDO echos, including this
one, do prohibit them in their echos. The Telemate echo rules
specifically address this issue.
There are a number of reasons for this, but the main reasons
are as follows;
UU and other types of encoding render a message to a file, and
the echo is not a file echo, it is for messages only.
Encoding is usually of benefit to one user, therefore sending
lengthy encoded files world wide is a huge waste that the intended
recipient could easily avoid by picking up the file in his local
area.
Virus code has been known to be embedded in encoded echo
messages....
hope that helps.
