| subject: | Re: Interet / EVOLUTION |
Methinks you're mixing unrelated elements in inappropriate ways to come up
with invalid speculations. Evolution is about gentic mutation and natural
selection - if you want to add a "modern" element, don't try adding an
electronic means for communications, because in and of itself, there's no
mix and evolution will not be affected, AFAICS. Even if there's a mix I'm
missing, I'd guess evolution is too profound a force to be sidetracked much
by a human communication mode.
If you wanted/needed to add something "modern", try global population
movement and fewer isolated populations which will likely effect evolution
in some real way. But in any event, this (arguabley) has squat to do with
the world being "doomed". Evolution will continue, and I would guess,
accelerate, amoung non-human species due to changes we are making to the
physical environment, such as pollution, genetically-engineered/altered
life-forms, etc, etc. And if "doom" is involved, I suspect it'll
be because
of what we've been doing in the past century or more, and not at all because
of evolution "halting". Also, the internet won't spread disease, and any
"control" we may have on "our own path" (a potentially
scary thought in
itself) will be affected by the internet in the same way books will affect
it - by the sharing of ideas and information. My $.02. Regards, Brett.
