Hi Janis,

JK> My mom was allergic to latex as well... also gold.. I don't seem to
JK> have a problem with either.. so that's something (g)

I had no problem until about 4 years ago. I guess it was too much
exposure that kicked it in.

JK> Well one section of that bed is mostly for greens, the other section
JK> is for beets to grow and grow :) I raid that 'greens" section of the
JK> bed for salads :) I grab those, some chinese cabbage leaves and
 JK> lettuce stuff :)

I see.

JK> > for eating as is, making beet salad and pickled beets primarily.
JK> Beet > salad is basically cooked & julienned beets, cut up mandarin
JK> oranges and > feta cheese (no real measurements, I do it by eye) and a

JK> Yes, beets are so good to grow in the garden because the greens are so
JK> good for you, and beets themselves are so incredibly good.

I didn't like beets as a kid--they were too tough--and my mom didn't
cook greens. Living in NC introduced me to cooking greens, beets came
out of a can at first, now I buy them fresh.

JK> > That's a lot of carbs! Was he in a job where he worked them off?

JK> Yes, he did pretty much. He wasn't a small guy either.. big frame.

So he could handle the carb load, I couldn't, especially now.

>> (I have all the needed ingredients) my cumcumbers are doing well :)

JK> > Try it, add another "like" to your menues.

JK> Yes (grin)... I picked up some summer squash plants at Agway yesterday
JK> and replaced the bed of 'seedy-spinach' with them... I can plant more
JK> spinach later in the season in time for cooler weather in the fall. I

JK> HOBAK JEON (Fried Korean Squash Pancake)

Looks interesting, something different to do with squash.
