Content-type: text/plain "Don't cry for me, Hewlett Packard." I never did like Carly Fiorina's big move to buy Compaq. I think she just took the gamble because it would make her a star if she pulled it off. It was a bigger mouthful than she could swallow. She had "cojones" (pronounced ko-ho-nes, for you gringos), I'll give her that. I don't care if she is a "high maintenance" woman, with her $21M golden parachute at a safe 5% in laddered tax-free muni's, that's a mil a year--I could live on that. It did HPQ price much better than the market's. Some bad, or should I say "realistic", economic data caused the market to fall off a cliff in mid-morning, for about 8pts, in heavy volume. It tried to hold that, gained a bit back, but in mid-afternoon did it again for a couple more. Closing volume increased to +1% above average, so it wasn't a panic. As you can see below on Momentum, it's still on the positive side, but it's trend is more or less flat. So be truly conservative implementing your strategy here, that is, cautious about changes and avoidance of risk. Price Vola- Momen- Volume Oscil- Summ. If I did though, well, I might use something like this. (Be warned!! It tends to whipsaw around signal points!)
