-> DN> One would hope so.. instability can really ruin a sports league
->
->Tennessee Oilers, Baltimore Ravens, Oakland Raiders and St. Louis
->Rams. That's 4 teams within the last couple of years and the NFL
->has never been better.
I certainly agree that the NFL is sitting pretty right now.. I was actually
thinking of the CFL when I mentioned the thing about instability. Our
league up here is a total joke right now, I haven't payed any attention to
it since 94. Instability was so bad the *Grey Cup Champions* FOLDED in the
off-season!!
I think the Ravens (a no-brainer, Baltimore has such rabid NFL fans..
although one might question the moral issue of Modell's move) and the
Raiders have been outright successes.. the other two?.. ehh.. it's up for
debate, but the NFL is far from my forte.
-> DN> playing against the Carolina Hurricanes??
->
->Of ALL the moves over the past decade, this is the ONLY one that
->hasn't worked out and I would say that's only in the PR area.
And the fact that they drew 1000-2000 fans for their 2nd home game of the
season.
When I talk about being annoyed with instability, I mean it differently than
you do.. you see that teams like the Nordiques have moved to Colorado and
been huge successes both on and off the ice.. and therefore, you see nothing
wrong. I see a small market franchise in Canada leaving for big bucks in
the States. For me, it's more of a moral issue.
