But the newer Epson cartridges are designed not to be refillable: they 
have a chip that indicates when the cartridge has become empty, and 
refilling them does no good unless the chip can be reset -- not 
impossible, but a hassle.

I have never seen aftermarket cartridges for the most recent (last two 
or three years) Epson inkjet printers.
