I refer you to Herbert Spencer who stated:  "There is a principle which
is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments
and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignornance-that
principle is contempt prior to investigation."  It has been on page 570
of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous for several years, at least the
30 I have been aware of its existence.
In 30 years I have seen alcoholics come up with many "proof"s of what
was generally known in common among them, ideas which mainstream
medicine finally managed to validate one way or another.
The work of Kenneth Blume and the others in Texas in addiction is known
and has been published since the 1980's.  I have one paper on remedial
deit using two amino acids for cocaine addiction that came out of
Presbyterian Medical Center in New York around 1983, I believe,
presented in Viena by Dr. Jeffery Rosencrans.  He found that imiprimine
along  with the amino acids assisted the cocaine addicts to recover.
One paper by Kenneth Blum is entitled: "Enkephalinase Inhibition and
Precursor Amino Acid Loading Improves Inpatient Treatment of Alcohol and
Polygrug Abusers:  Double Blind Placebo-Controlled Study of the
Nutritional Adjunct SAAVE.  It was first published in the journal
ALCOHOL, Vol 5, pp. 481-493 by Pergamon Press in 1989.  The other names
on that study are Michael C. Trachtenberg, Clyde E. Elliott, M. Lea
Dingler, Robert L. Sexton, Alan I. Samuels, Louis Cataldie.  There are
two or three pages of bibliography with the paper I have in hand put out
by Centrix, Inc, in Northville Michigan who makes the SAAVE.
"Improvement of Cocaine-Induced Neuromodulator Deficits by the
Neuronutrient Tropamine" by Michael C. Trachtenberg and Kenneth Blum
was published in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs in Jul-Sept 1988.  I
am looking at pages 315-330.  The references on the end include those
from the American Journal of Psychiatry; Neuropharmacology; Brain
Research, Pharmacology, Biochemistry and Behavior;Current Therapuetic
Research; and Alcohol.
So you see, had you been reading any of those medical journals in the
1980's you could not have escaped seeing article after article on the
effect of remedial diet on addicts and alcoholics.
Since you haven't the faintest idea of what is going on in this field, I
suggest that you take the time to find out and then get back to me.
Especially since the latest research into Down's Syndrome both in this
nation and Europe indicates it is a nutritional problem that will result
in mental retardation if those children are not fed the proper remedial
diet.
There is just too much evidence, hard cold scientific fact, to be
ignored by anyone with any common sense and knowledge of what goes on in
the families of genetic alcoholics.
