Hi Janis,
>> I bring a list now of meds I'm allergic to all my doctors, dentists,
>> etc. It makes quite a diffence. The last dentist I went to made
>> copies of that list for me and put them in a manilla evelope so I'd
>> have them for a while :)
JK> > I keep a list on the computer, printing off a copy whenever needed.
JK> That works if you know ahead of time what you are allergic to :)
I keep forgetting that I need to add latex to the list--but remember
when I'm at the doctor to ask for latex free gloves, band aides, etc.
>> I saw a number of buds forming on the tomato plants this week, so
>> that's good. July should do the trick for an August or sooner
>> production..
JK> > Hope for July but may have to settle for August. (G)
JK> Normally I don't see red tomatoes in the Ithaca area until mid-august.
JK> I see a lot flowers out there now, and the peppers have flowers as
JK> well. Should see some soon if the weather continues as it's been.
Good eating. BTW, saw in your listing of what's in the garden that you
grow the beets mostly for the greens. We'd grow them for the beets, both
for eating as is, making beet salad and pickled beets primarily. Beet
salad is basically cooked & julienned beets, cut up mandarin oranges and
feta cheese (no real measurements, I do it by eye) and a vinegarette
dressing. Simple but good.
JK> I guess some of it is how you eat pasta in general.. we rarely eat a
JK> large plate of say "only pasta" with various sauces. Aways with a
JK> salad (with veggies and fruit). But you'd still have to watch your
JK> carbs even with that I'm sure.
JK> Now my Dad was the worst! He'd eat a large plate of pasta, with bread
JK> right along with it :( I'm amazed he didn't die of a heart attack, but
JK> he didn't.. it was lung cancer that got him.
That's a lot of carbs! Was he in a job where he worked them off?
>> Generally I don't bother to dry pasta, but make it on the fly.. Since
>> the machine cranks it out so fast, there is no real wait.
JK> > With only 2 of us at home, we don't want to overdo our pasta per
JK> > consumption so it's easier for us to just cook up a bit of a dry one
JK> for > what we need.
JK> Makes sense :)
>> > We've found that we like the cucumber kim chee better than the
>> cabbage. > It's not quite as hot but has a good flavor to it we've not
>> always found > to be so with cabbage.
>> I'll have to look for that, it may have been on the refrig. shelves
>> and I missed it. I usually go right for the cabbage kimchee :)
JK> > Radar locked in on it? (G)
JK> We all love the kimchee we can get in Ithaca so I always head straight
JK> for it. I did see cucumber kimchee there though.. I may try making it
JK> (I have all the needed ingredients) my cumcumbers are doing well :)
Try it, add another "like" to your menues.
