Hello Tom -

CA>> As a kid my friends and I learned to drive cars with no
CA>> brakes at all in order to move them to where we could work
CA>> on them (across town or wherever). If not for my extensive
CA>> experience driving without brakes I think someone would've
CA>> died as I was in traffic just a few miles north of Detroit
CA>> not on a lonely country road.

TW> Carefull manuvering, slow speeds, and a somewhat working
TW> Hand Brake made that very possable. I have done that
TW> several times myself.

In all fairness to the younger generation reading this all cars
had bumpers and we did nudge a few people now and then. If it
was rush hour and we needed to move a car with no brakes the
more experienced of us would be the lead automobile and we
would follow him. That way if there was a problem we only hit a
person we knew who wouldn't file an accident report. The lead
car would anticipate stops and allow you to touch his rear
bumper and use his brakes to stop you. :-)

40 years ago if another car 'tapped' you from behind you
usually just ignored them and women would park by tapping the
car ahead of them to know they were all the way forward. :-)
