subject: LORD 4.07 beta notes, Upcoming IGM releases

> What is the current version of L.O.R.D.?? I have the older 3.55 on
my BBS for > download, and may have to go back to it. I'm having
problems with L.O.R.D. >4.02...as it keeps saying the game isn't
registered, when I know that it is.

There are copies of each of the official versions of LORD that I have in my
collection on the Nightfallgames web-site. Just go to this URL and you can
get any that are needed, since the lordlegacy.com site is not usable
lately. That I've noticed anyway. The v3.5x and v4.0x versions of LORD
posted are RTE200-patched if they are Seth's versions.
http://www.nightfallgames.com/files/ - The Lord programs are all inside a
Programs directory, along with as many old versions of Lord II and
Tournament Lord that I've been able to collect over the years. The site
was set up last year by Michael Everett and myself to give people a
reliable online source for all known Lord programs.

As Jahmas mentioned, the last OFFICIAL version of LORD is 4.06. The
current 4.07 beta, as of my last check earlier this month, has not been
worked on since late July 2003. The current status for Lord/32 is beta
#2 from late spring 2003. And the current known status for LORD/X is
also beta #2 from late spring 2003. I have zero idea what is current for
LORD II since I don't play the game personally, so I don't get its betas.

To get rid of the "give a gem to Hag" lord crash, you have to use
v4.06. There are also some very cuckoo things with lord 4.07 that appear to
only bug me, since no one else ever seems to mention them. Things like
being unable to do anything, or much of anything, with whatever character
you have set up in Record #3 position. Lord will start doing stuff with
him and then shuts down with RTE 005 errors. It is a pain in the butt, but
I try to deal with it. The crashes also occur when one uses List Warriors
from any location in LORD - main menu, slaughter menu, or Turgon's menu.
And lastly, anytime one tries to access igms with that character, Lord will
crash. To date, I've found no solution for the aggravations, and guess
they are happening only to Local mode players.

As for obtaining betalord.zip, send message (as usual) with subject saying
"Send me LORD" to e_maus{at}covingtononline.com, and it is usually
sent out automatically at the start of the next hour. Getting beta for
Lord II uses "Send me LORD2". And I think beta for TEOS is
"Send me TEOS".

Don't get me wrong, I think 4.07 is very stable most of the time. It just
bugs me that when you use seven characters to test and develop igms with,
that only six of them can be reliably used. I just wish at times that
someone could purchase LORD from Gameport, and devote full time to updating
it afterwards. They can't be making any money really I think from such old
bbs games, so someone ought to be able to get them to sell.

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving.

I will be releasing four more LORD IGMs soon. Work on Outlands Tavern 1.4F
is very stable, and nearly ready for release as version 1.5. This one
protects sleeping player from being attacked by more than one player at a
time. Work on Pawn Shop 3.00 will be completed by end of this month. And I
have done more work on my tribute IGM rewrite of Trevor Herndon's Love
Shack, called Love Shack II. That will be released in a few days as
version 2.00. And it is not easy to study an old igm screen by screen and
reproduce it, but it is a good mental challenge to have. Work on Turgeon's
House update will be ready for release in a week or so. All of the current
betas may be accessed from this URL at any time.

I will resume work in December on Nice Hag 2.20, and Ruined Castle v2.00's
sequel. And at some time in I will start adapting Forest Outhouse to run
under the ANGEL door toolkit. Further work on Turgeon's House will be done
as well, to add new features that Mike Ciesiensky and I feel will make the
igm even more challenging for its users.

If anyone else has any Lord programming going on, I would appreciate your
letting me know about it at donald.tidmore{at}fidotel.com email address.
Donald.
