Hey, I could get behind a project like that!  Where I live we have
prodigious 'crops' of what we call 'Pigweed' that grow between cash
crops.  I've often thought of using them in some way to produce methane
or something else combustible for generating power. 
They grew ten feet tall in my citrus orchard one year when it was too
rainy to get in there to get rid of 'em!  Would have made a FINE batch
of Methane.
