Thanks for the info--- I have a friend that I used to work with that
used to do a lot of painting and he told me the most important part of
the whole deal was to use an epoxy primer.  The primer needs to be the
best you can get and then the paint is secondary.  He has painted quite
a few fiberglass toppers etc... so I trust his word.  The big thing is
that if I'm going to keep this project, I don't want to redo all of
this work in a couple of years.  I am going to go to a used parts
shop to get the electrical and other parts I need, so they will be able
to help me out with the specifics of how to hook them up,
thanks again for the response  I'll let you know how it turns out.
I've already got the primer on and I'm planning to start with the color
and clear coats early next week.
