 That's okay...but I think you are letting Jane lead you down that old
 garden path of changing the subject in midstream.  I have no experience
 or training in addictions, as I've stated here before.  None is required
 to rebut her off the wall statements regarding any association between
 FAS, FAE, alcoholism, diet and esoteric home brewed supplements.  As I
 clearly stated, use of ritalin under a physician controlled and
 monitored treatment plan has no relationship to her rants about
 alcoholism and unsubstantiated comments about ADD/ADHD.
 FWIW my wife's stepfather is an alcoholic, has been for as long as
 she can remember.  He goes on the wagon every now and again and is
 usually pretty good about not drinking for months.  All he has to
 do is take one drink and he's off again.  That, to me, is pretty
 strong evidence that he _chooses_ not to stay dry
