It was Charles that said i would bring the internet to it's knees
by receiving spam and some how i would be more likely to spread whole
scale destruction because i operate as root when using Linux.

ML> are you aware of the slammer worm?

W32.SQLExp.Worm is a worm that targets the systems running Microsoft
SQL Server 2000, as well as Microsoft Desktop Engine (MSDE) 2000.
The worm sends 376 bytes to UDP port 1434, the SQL Server Resolution
Service Port.

What has this got to do with me operating as root with Linux?

Web servers utilizing the IIS server on Windows NT and Windows 2000
with the index server or indexing service enabled.

What has this got to do with me operating as root with Linux?

ML> nimda?

Nimda Worm
Systems running Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, and 2000

What has this got to do with me operating as root with Linux?

You need to update windows. There was a patch issued last
year! After you update run your AV in safe-mode.See if that
helps.
*************************************************************

The Java/byteverify virus infects Ms and Sun Java of which
neither are used by my browsers.

No one can be sure that their browser is not vulnerable to an exploit.

It would appear to me that me that the average user of Microsoft
products is more likely to spread viruses than i am operating as
root on my Linux systems.

I welcome input from anyone regarding security but before you put in
your two penny worth could you at least do a little research an not
waste my time.
