Your 3 advice statements sound just about what we did.  My husband used his 
drill he got from menards.  He didn't burn it up, he just let it cool a lot.  
  He didn't cut the rings, so we got lucky there.  There is 68k on the 
overhaul we did the spring of '94 and the engine is still going strong with a 
leak or two.  Long live the mopars!!
