I saw a documentary on one of the 'funny car' teams where the
'brains' of the dragster were in a van connected via radio
signals to the dragster. The brain in the van even did the
shifting. All the driver did was keep the pointy end in the
right direction and pray for it to end (in one piece). :-) 

Seemed unsportsmanlike to me and boring too.
