-> I have a trailerable boat also, but I am trying to sell it. We
-> launched it whenever we liked, and brought it home to work on. It was
-> really good that way. It is a Sirius 21. I will miss the flexibility
-> and all the other goodies that go with it. However, My T 26 is more
-> boat, and is my *cottage* as well as my boat. We go down even when we
-> don't go out, it's so nice by the water.
GS>Edwin: I have a Sandpiper 565 (19 foot), I like it very much in light to
GS>moderate winds but when blowing at 20+ knots it gets very tricky to
GS>handle. I took the main in for a repair (15 year old original) and it
GS>should be ready before the sailing season starts. When I was looking for
GS>a sailboat I originally was looking for a slightly smaller one (Siren),
GS>but for more money I got the Sandpiper and I am glad I did.
GS> I am very new to sailing and I have only be out in two other boats
GS>(smaller and larger), this is my first sailboat I have owned. I would
GS>have like to have gotten a bigger one maybe with a fixed keel, but
GS>since I don't have anyplace to keep it other than at home on a trailer,
GS>it more than suits my purpose. I only hope I can do some short weekend
GS>trips with the boat this summer!

George..
The Siren is the little brother of the Sirius. They were both made by
Vandestadt-McGruer in Owen Sound till they were dragged into bankruptcy
by their restaurant. They also made the Sirius 28 and the Sirius 22.
Too bad they went out of business, 'cause they are good boats. The
Sandpiper is a good little boat. There are a couple in our club .
As to the price of keeping your boat at a club,( a bigger boat, that is),
it is a lot cheaper than belonging to a golf club, and compares with
any other sport for cost,(bowling, tennis).
Are you going to the boat show? I am.
