DP> I'm looking for a good reference book on freshwater aquarium fish
DP> that includes the following:
DP> - How to identify the sex of each breed of fish, with pictures of
DP> each - What breeds (if any) are incompatible with each breed (ie.
DP> fin-nippers, etc).
DP> - Typical info such as temperature, ph, etc, etc...
Axelrods is good, and Aquarium Fish by Dick Mills is full of Pictures
in color.
I don't know if still in print, but there is also The Innes book,
Exotic Aquarium Fish By Dr William Innes and Simons&Schusters
Guide to Freshwater and Marine aquarium fisgs (300 color pics& a
Temp,Ph factor and light keys)
Probably plenty of other good books out there,
once you get to know how to, books are a lesser priority, with $$$
going to buy more fish and tanks and etc ;-)
So i have not bought many books recently, Simons is 1979, Innes I have
is 19th ed, 1970s, Mills is my newest with a 1993 print date.
Suggest you hit the librarys and checkout books there, once find one
like alot, check at a bookstore, if not in stock, they can see if in
print and special order it.
DP> found exactly what I'm looking for in a reference book for my
DP> freshwater aquarium. Does it not exist, and what I'm looking for can
DP> only be learned by experience and from the experiences of others? Can
DP> someone recommend a book that will meet my requirements?
I never got into bredding much so never had a reason for books on
sexing fish, but there must be some out, check public librarys, and
check stores, maybe someone else knows some titles.
