Edwin: I have a Sandpiper 565 (19 foot), I like it very much in light to
moderate winds but when blowing at 20+ knots it gets very tricky to
handle. I took the main in for a repair (15 year old original) and it
should be ready before the sailing season starts. When I was looking for
a sailboat I originally was looking for a slightly smaller one (Siren),
but for more money I got the Sandpiper and I am glad I did.
  I am very new to sailing and I have only be out in two other boats
(smaller and larger), this is my first sailboat I have owned. I would
have like to have gotten a bigger one maybe with a fixed keel, but
since I don't have anyplace to keep it other than at home on a trailer,
it more than suits my purpose. I only hope I can do some short weekend
trips with the boat this summer!
