Much deleted cause it has no meaning to the problem at hand, a 14.4Kbps
Rockwell chipset modem.
RT> Why do you think that the "problem is probably in the Zoom"?
Because I went through at least 5 of the early 14.4's and lost probably 100
hours of sleep trying to get the early Rockwell chipsets working on my line,
which wasn't very good at all. The modem would work fine from other
locations, but I could barely hold a 4800bps connect here. This was rom code
1.00 I think. Yes they were very early v.32bis modems. They sucked to put it
mildly. And it wasn't just Zoom. It was ALL the Rockwell v.32bis chipset
modems. I tried 3 different brands. Zoom corrected the problem in the 1.56
roms if memory serves me. And to their credit, they were the first to fix the
problem I believe. But I had switched to ZyXEL by then and gotten some much
needed sleep.:-)
