You could hang up on the connection 5 megs at a time - ZedZap will
perform auto-recovery. Sketchy, but it works...

Break up the 50 meg file into smaller file-attaches, and send them
individually?

Send him a tape backup/Syquest/Zip drive?

Whether or not he can toss 50 megs at one seating is a whole
different matter - some tossers would require 100 megs of temp sorage
to do so!
