| subject: | macro conversion WPDOS 5.1 into WPWIN 5.20:05:4402/28/97 |
Hi, I encountered a rather nasty problem. When my PC was upgraded from DOS to Windows, I had to change from the good old WPDOS 5.1 to WPWIN 5.2. Not to mention a different user interface, the macro's I developed, roughly 150, do not work any more. That's why the problem is nasty. Our local helpdesk didn't know a sophisticated method how to convert the WPDOS 5.1 macro's into WPWIN 5.2 macro's: "We've typed them all over again". The web site for Wordperfect did not give a clue. The (Internet) support for WP 5 seems to be vapourized: "version 5 is no longer supported, we suggest upgrading to version ...". So my question is: Is anyone of you familiar with a tool which converts *.wpm into *.wcm, a wpm2wcm.exe? Where can it be found or purchased? If such a tool does not exist, do you know whether documentation is available which allows for decoding the *.wpm files and encoding them into *.wcm? 73 es cuagn, Henk --- GoldED 2.50+ --------------- ** A related thread FOLLOWS this message. Why did you "change from the good old WPDOS 5.1 to WPWIN 5.2?" WP5.1 runs just fine under Windows. Did someone force you to make the change? If so, why did they make you change to such an OLD version os WP for Windows? Sounds like there are some misguided support people there. The web site for Wordperfect did not give a Hd>clue. Perhaps because DOS macros are a PUSH concept while Windows requires a PULL approach. By that I mean that in DOS you perform an action that PUSHes WPDOS to do what you want. In Windows it is tell WPWIN what the results you want are, and WPWIN will pull the program along. Makes it virtually impossible to have macro conversions that are a simple transition.
