I wouldn't take much stock in what Nintendo says about their hardware
before it comes out.  Nintendo also said that the SNES CD-ROM was
coming out but that never happened.  Even if the modem was included
what would it be used for?  Nintendo certainly doesn't know, otherwise
they would have been bragging about it by now.
