AU>911 just sent out a questionnaire here in Brown County OH. that had some
AU>personal questions on it that I wouldn't answer, and I'm volunteer fire
AU>fighter here. The thing is you may give some info out that you are
assured
AU>Say that I am a shooting enthusiast and I put info that would help fire
AU>fighters know that there is a supply of ammo located in a particular part
AU>of
AU>the house. Now you have just told local law inforcement you are a gun
freak
AU>and should be dealt with as such! Give them only what they need, name,
AM> addres AU>and the nearest cross street. That is all the need to get
AM> there and provide AU>help.
AM>
AM>
AM> Amen, Andy. The way things are these days a S.W.A.T. team would
AM> probably show up with the F.D.
AM>
AM> In California all the "good" gun owners who registered their
AM> "ass-ault" rifles now show up on the cops screens when they get a call
AM> to that area. They know where you live, and one day they will knock
AM> on your door and ask for your gun.
AM>
AM> Protect your privacy or you will soon have little left.
911 is a good system, but just like anything else they are wanting more and
power and control. The 911 in our area put out feelers to all of the
departments around here to try and get the job of directly dispatching county
sheriff cars as well as fire and ems. Well 911 is just taking root here and
take my word, they have a long way to go till the come close to Clermont
co. 911's professionalism. Some real boners have happend here, we had a car
fire right out of the village and I had heard on the scanner the local police
call the sheriff dispatch and ask for the fire dept.. Well I thought I had a
good jump on the situation and headed for the fire dept., but I heard another
fire department get toned, 20 miles away for the fire. 911 and the sheriff
dept. doesn't even have a working concept of each others codes and signals or
unit # this is always causing big trouble. They drop tones by mistake in the
middle of the night and don't say a word and never say disregard, just go
ahead and tone the right one. They don't follow protocall on territories and
mutual aid.
All of the 911 people should be have to listen to scanners at home just to
get as familiar with the workings of it all. I know most of the scanner
buffs here know territories and unit designations, signals and codes better
than 911!
Now all that said they want all this personal info and expect me to trust
them....NOOO WAY!
