It was already used, so is known to contain MBR code.

Of all your posts here and on the DFSee list, I can't remember ever
seeing anything describing anything you did to cause the MBR to contain
anything useful on either of your two previously empty disks. New disks
have no MBR. "Press any key to reboot" is the precise response expected
from a disk with no MBR code and a BIOS with no ROM BASIC. It happened
to me most recently less than a week ago. It's a very easy thing to
forget.
