Hi Andrew,
I presume that that rate of 20KB/second for version 2.1 of the RTL8029
driver was a joke?
What real rates did you get with it and with the new patch 2 version?
FWIW, I know the 8029 is slow - running the optimum[?] case ramdrive to
ramdrive gave the following results here with a single large[?] file:
From Warp3 Connect FP40 [RTL8029-RH45/BNC-combo] to an 10/100 8139 in
adjacent system running Warp4 FP16, via CAT5 2.5m crossover half-duplex:
OS/2 Ctrl+Esc = Window List Type HELP = help
[D:\Desktop]dir "R:\Star Office51\help\01\shelp.dat"
Volume in drive R has no label.
Directory of R:\Star Office51\help\01
24/12/00 14:46 15532030 0 shelp.dat
1 file(s) 15532030 bytes used
67108864 bytes free
systemtime = 00:51:31.810000
timerstart = 0
[D:\Desktop]copy "R:\Star Office51\help\01\shelp.dat" \\client272\mine
1 file(s) copied.
elapsed time = 83.410000
systemtime = 00:52:55.220000
[D:\Desktop]dir \\client272\mine\*.dat
Directory of \\client272\mine
24/12/00 14:46 15532030 0 shelp.dat
1 file(s) 15532030 bytes used
systemtime = 00:52:55.250000
---------------------------------
15532030 bytes in 83.41 seconds equates to 186213 bytes/sec (181.84
KB/sec)
which is definitely better than 20KB/sec
---------------------------------
[D:\DESKTOP]dir ..\ibmcom\macs\pcind.os2
The volume label in drive D is OS2.
The Volume Serial Number is A8AC:3014.

13386240 bytes free

1 file(s) copied.
elapsed time = 84.340000
systemtime = 02:15:50.590000
[C:\Desktop]dir \\client272\mine\*.dat
Directory of \\CLIENT272\MINE
24/12/00 14:46 15532030 0 SHELP.DAT
1 file(s) 15532030 bytes used
systemtime = 02:15:50.640000
Slightly SLOWER than W3Connect,
only 184,159.7 Bytes/sec [179.84 Kbytes/sec] with the same driver as
W3Connect.
Having now downloaded your latest patched version I'll run it against
the same test here.
