The Sportster has one thing going for it for BBS  use, IMO:  It's the 
Big Mac of modems. Everyone has one, and if you  have a  problem with 
it, there's a good chance someone else has the modem and can help.

I  asked  for  an  init  string  for the  Sportster, and  got several 
responses. I dropped the init string in to  BINKLEY.CFG, and  haven't 
had a problem since.

Sure, a Courier is a much better modem, but I  have better  things to 
spend my money on, since there' usually a gap between  hardware costs 
and my user donation for the month.  :)
