-=> Quoting Robert Pearson to Andrew Adams <=- AA> Why? Last time I checked, the Sportster was your best bet... RP> IMHO the Sportster is the CHEAPER of the two modems, and the RP> Courier is the BETTER of the two modems. Especially for BBS use RP> (where you can save money by using the sysop program) it can make RP> sense to get the better of the two modems. In fact, anyone who uses RP> their modem extensively might find the extra expense for a Courier RP> "worth it". The Sportster has one thing going for it for BBS use, IMO: It's the Big Mac of modems. Everyone has one, and if you have a problem with it, there's a good chance someone else has the modem and can help. I asked for an init string for the Sportster, and got several responses. I dropped the init string in to BINKLEY.CFG, and haven't had a problem since. Sure, a Courier is a much better modem, but I have better things to spend my money on, since there' usually a gap between hardware costs and my user donation for the month. :) --- Blue Wave/DOS v2.30* Origin: realitycheckBBS - San Francisco, CA +1 415 666 0339 (1:161/418) SEEN-BY: 50/99 157/534 620/243 622/419 623/630 625/100 626/660 665 667 668 SEEN-BY: 626/670 633/2 640/820 711/401 409 410 413 416 430 501 808 809 934 SEEN-BY: 711/955 712/515 713/888 714/906 800/1 @PATH: 161/418 84 55 270/101 396/1 157/110 534 626/660 711/401 808 934 |
