True, but only on a particular machine.  Many (most) wireless setups have
several hardwired machines and a wireless router (usually with 4 wired
ports) or a router (and maybe a switch) with one port connected to a WAP.

That's the situation here.  I have a wired network with a router and a
switch. There's also a wireless WAP which I turn on when I want to use my
laptop remote via the wireless link.

It all works well.

Yes.  I do have to go through some contortions to switch the laptop
between the wired connection and the wireless adapter without rebooting,
but it's working now.
