Hi Paul,
Thanks very much for providing the tips in setting up a point, allowing
me to point off you, and generally providing a top notch BBS to get mail
off. I hope that you are finding running a BBS a sufficiently satisfying
experience so as to entice you to continue providing this service.
It seems to be a very one way thing with us, the users, gaining all the
benefits and you the provider of this service spending the dollars on
all the equipment and sacrificing much of your own leisure time. I would
certainly not begrudge you an annual fee if you decided this was
appropriate for users to pay to compensate for the inconveniences I
mentioned.
My first pointing exercise off you seemed to go off OK last night, well
at least at this end. I couldn't unzip gold220 that I D/L'ed off you, so
I had a go at setting up ver2.41. I mustn't have set the directories
up correctly because though I got a packet off you, golded was
telling me that there was no messages. I haven't had a good look at
the problem yet but I don't imagine it is more than a minor hiccup.
I now have gold220, so I may set that up as per your point.txt. I
will try the setup again tonight and if all goes well and I can
read the messages, I guess there is no reason why I shouldn't add all
the other message areas that I desire, and stop dialling in at 2400 to
get qwk packets altogether. I suppose I should test uploading a
message as well.
I thought the whole pointing process went very quickly, and I can't
imagine why anyone who is paying STD phone rates wouldn't jump at the
opportunity of becoming a point.
Alan...
