Hi Bill, There is a freeware editor from IBM called TinyEd/2. It is on the Dev Conn CD, the Hobbes CD and the BBS in the origin line of this message. It is supplied with Warp as TEDIT.EXE. It really is tiny and runs from the command line. I use this on my emergency restart floppies. There is an IBM program (also on the Dev Conn CD) to edit .INI files but it is PM and a little large for a floppy disk boot. The problem is that the Prf...() API calls require an anchor block, which, in turn, requires some of the PM-support .DLL's to be present. I am working on a .INI editor, and the PM version is not a major challenge to design; however, a text-mode version with no PM requirements could prove to be a real hack (which I hate). You might like to build an emrgency partition, using BOOTOS2, that includes PM support. This brings us to the philosphical issue of whether the .INI files are PM-related or not. I don't think they should be (even if they currently are). I suspect the opinions within IBM will vary from mine, since it would mean changing the design of OS/2 slightly. Anyhow, watch this space for announcements about a .INI recovery tool.
