Hey Joe!  Fancy meeting YOU in here!  I've been researching energy-
efficient, low cost shelter designs as part of a continuing hobby for
years now, even though I've not earned my living in construction for
several years.  How is it I never realized you were into that too?
Ya know, I just got hit on the head with the literary equivalent of a
skillet one day when I was reading that book "Low-Cost, Energy-Efficient
Shelter".  The author pointed out the bleeding obvious, that the best
way to save money in housing was to reduce the capital investment first,
and gave a number of design guidelines which would help accomplish that
AND save on the energy bills all at once.  When one considers the effect
of compound interest across 20-30 years on a dollar NOT saved, it was
easy to see how with a few simple strategies, one could save 40-60% on
their homes and another 25% upon maintenence and utility costs.  I've
kept my fingers in it ever since.
