JP>My wife and I use her method, partly. We use a curriculum with lots Yes, Ilike reading Mason and seeing her POV, thn if I can use that idea or strategy, we do. I like how she describes looking at and drawing nature. I never was taught to observe things that way,so that was a real treat for me. JP>of literature and read to our four children. ALSO, for most of the JP>other subjects like history and some science, we do NOT use text books JP>but living books or good literature or classics, etc. The lesson JP>plans we use, coordinate much of the literature to coincide with JP>history as well. We got in spells using history books/texts. I and the kids really prefer just reading a story about someone in history or an event in history. One of my kids like Bodie Thoenes (prolly have the spelling wrong of the last name) very much. They caught on to alot of facts and places in her series. I have been slow to figue out what book can work well in what area. We are getting better and the kids are even catching on in how to choose related books and working on themes. It has been a real challange to not be like a traditional school classroom. It has been hard for the older kids to not expect me to spoon feed them knowledge, and a lesson for me to not do so. It is so amazing to be surprised by what they have learned on their own. Sometimes the depth they go to, because they were interested and excited thrills me. They have to learn how to teach themselves. That's life in general. If I can teach them how to find knowledge then the world is theirs.
