Hello Tom -

CA>> Linspire is an attempt to commercialize free software
CA>> (GNU/Linux) why bother with it?

TW> It appears to be a laymans WORKING LINUX system. NOT having
TW> to have a Super Geek holding your hand is a botherable
TW> situation.

KNOPPIX is even _more_ of a layman's WORKING LINUX and very
user friendly from all reports I'm getting.

TW> And overall it can be Cheeper then an equilivent MS
TW> computer setup and gives you the satisfacyion of NOT lining
TW> the Tyrants Pocket.

The hardware, Linspire, is inexpensive but KNOPPIX is free and
Linspire charges $99 per year for access to their software.

TW> I find it sad that it is not catching on faster.

I find it sad so many rush to make money from programming that
was done for free by people who will never see a dime of that
money.

TW> But then the MS propoganda machine is VERY powerfull.

For the most part M$ ignores Linux.

TW> OF course Robertson, Somewhat of a Local Boy by the way,
TW> althogh I never met his personnaly I used to read his
TW> columns in a local free Computer flyer, recieved quite a
TW> windfall by sellng MP3.com he can in no way match the PR
TW> dollar budget of Microsoft.

MP3.COM was _another_ grab to make money from music he did not
write. How many musicians did he share his millions with? The
guy is an opportunist IMO.

THAT is what keeps ME away from Linspire and Redhat too.
